Naturally Color those Easter Eggs
Did you know that you can color your easter eggs without using harsh dyes?
The Dye Dilemma
Americans are now eating 5 times more dyes than they did in 1955! Many dyes have been linked to cancer such as; Citrus Red #2 and Red #3 Erythrosine while others have been linked to hyperactivity in children like, Red #40 Allura Red and Yellow #6 Sunset Yellow.
The Natural Route
Being healthy and steering clear of harsh and toxic dyes does not mean you need to sit out of easter fun and festivities. There are several health ingredients to help color those eggs for this Sunday. Some options include coffee, blueberry, tea, chili powder, red onions, spinach, saffron powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, red cabbage, turmeric, onions and more! There are so many ways to decorate those eggs. Check out the ingredients list from Assemble Shop below…
Ingredients
• Yellow onion skins (skins from about 10-15 onions, depending on how many eggs you are making)
• White cage-free, organic eggs
• a few dashes of salt (to prevent shell breakage)
• 1 tablespoon of vinegar (to prevent egg seepage)
• regular old pantyhose
• some flora of your choice–make sure none of it is poisonous. (I used cherry blossoms and ferns).
