I would like to introduce you to the wonderful world of Barefoot Massage and let you know how it was that I became a fan.
THE RECOMMENDATION I first fell in love with this truly healing massage in 2010. After years and years of requesting Swedish Massage with Deep Tissue on my neck and shoulders, my massage therapist and dear friend recommended for me to set up a Barefoot session with her instead. I was a little apprehensive at the idea of having someone walk on me as this did not seem to be something that I could imaging feeling relaxing, but decided to follow her guidance. After all, she was very rarely wrong when it came to body work or skincare.
HOW IT WORKS Barefoot is offered in both 90-min and 2-Hr sessions. Being a beginner to receiving this modality I opted for the 90-min. I was instructed to show up in yoga-style attire for the service. This is so you may comfortably move from position to position. In this service your massage therapist will have you lay down on a thai matt in the Barefoot Treatment room. The Barefoot Treatment Room is noticeably smaller to allow for the therapist to use the sides of the room to better leverage into muscle tension. Once on the matt your therapist places you in various positions so that they may received better access to the deeper layers of muscle tendons, ligaments, and connective tissue.
TRYING NEW THINGS During the service, while receiving work on the shoulder area which was pretty tight, I began to feel the tension dissipate and my shoulders’ range of motion increase. This increase in the range of motion is a common experience and may be why we have so many athletes request the Barefoot Massage service at Le Reve. In any case the pressure applied felt amazing. Although this service provides a deeper massage than Sports Massage, Deep Tissue, and Trigger Point it did not feel like it. The Barefoot Massage Therapy session left me feeling as if I had received an hour and a half of stretching. I left my treatment in a complete state of bliss.
If you like deep tissue and sports massage this Treatment is perfect for you.
FOLLOWING MY BAREFOOT MASSAGE The following day my range of motion was still increasing and I did not experience the slight soreness that can come from Deep Tissue body work. I had a renewed range of motion and flexibility. I even felt as though I was standing taller and without the discomfort that I had experienced from my muscle tension prior to my service I was also in better spirits. It is truly awesome what an amazing massage can do for the mind as well as the body. Barefoot massage uses deep compression and myofascial release to help ease tension and relax tight muscles. Through trigger point work we can help alleviate chronic tension and target the root of the problem relieving stress, increasing circulation, helping the healing process.

Deep Tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity, such as athletes, and patients who have sustained physical injury. It is also not uncommon for receivers of Deep Tissue Massage to have their pain replaced with a new muscle ache for a day or two.
Deep tissue work varies greatly. What one calls deep tissue another will call light. When receiving deep tissue work it is important to communicate what you are feeling.
How does deep tissue massage work? When there is chronic muscle tension or injury, there are usually adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) in muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
Adhesions can block circulation and cause pain, limited movement, and inflammation. Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down this adhesion to relieve pain and restore normal movement. To do this, the massage therapist often uses direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles. Once a massage has been performed, there will be instant relief, however, to continue that relief, the use of CBD lotions can be incredibly useful. CBD and marijuana have great healing properties and can help muscles and joints relax, easing up any pain that may still be there. The purple rockstar has both Sativa and Indica components and it is known for its abilities to reduce the effects of anxiety, depression, fatigue and migraines. This and many such similar strains can be found on online stores like BuyMyWeedOnline or other e-stores that specialises in marijuana products. CBD oils and lotions don’t have to be the only solutions and those who still experience pain can ingest marijuana products or even smoke them, but you can find more out about that here.
Will deep tissue massage hurt? At certain points during the massage, most people find there is usually some discomfort and pain. It is important to tell the massage therapist when things hurt and if any soreness or pain you experience is outside your comfort range.
There is usually some stiffness or pain after a deep tissue massage, but it should subside within a day or so. The massage therapist may recommend applying ice to the area after the massage. Some people prefer to have a massage from the comfort of their own home, in which case, you should contact a Mobile Massage Therapist.
What conditions is deep tissue massage used for? Unlike classic massage therapy, which is used for relaxation, deep tissue massage usually focuses on a specific problem, such as:
Chronic pain limited mobility
Recovery from injuries (e.g. whiplash, falls, sports injury)
Repetitive strain injury, such as carpal tunnel syndrome
Muscle tension or spasm
According to the August 2005 issue of Consumer Reports magazine, 34,000 people ranked deep tissue massage more effective in relieving osteoarthritis pain than physical therapy, exercise, prescription medications, chiropractic, acupuncture, diet, glucosamine, and over-the-counter drugs. Deep tissue massage also received a top ranking for fibromyalgia pain. People often notice improved range of motion immediately after a deep tissue massage.
